Soldiers who fought in Cobb County
Much work has been done to try to identify the various units who fought in particular battles. These are called “Orders of Battle.”
Generally when reading a “high level” history or even a first hand account, reference will be made to a unit by the officer’s name. The “Order of Battle” will help you identify the individual units which made up the “command” and from there determine a tentative roster of the unit to use in researching the men and finding first hand accounts that pertain to the battle.
The Order of Battle for the Battle of Kennesaw is 25 pages in length. It can also be used generally to determine the troops engaged at the smaller batles in he area.
