1864 – Timeline
This Timeline includes nearby events and locations outside of Cobb County leading up to the crossing of the Chattahoochee River.
The significant battles to the west of Dallas, Pumpkinvine Creek, Pickets Mill and New Hope Church are in Paulding County.
To the north, the battle of Allatoona Pass was in the southern portion of Bartow county, largely now covered by Lake Allatoona.
The County of Milton to the northwest was created from Cobb County just prior to the war, then lost to bankruptcy and combined with Fulton County in 1931. The town of Roswell was a part of Cobb County during the war although it is now part of Fulton County To the south and east was Campbell county which is also now defunct and a part of Fulton County. The story of these people at the Roswell Mill and the Manchester Mill to the south bordering Campbell County deserves to be told with Cobb County, particularly since the counties are no longer in existence and their history is largely lost.
